Our Brannan Charbono is ultra-rare and a very special treat as Charbono is considered a critically endangered grape varietal throughout the world. In fact, recent reports show there are only about 70 acres of this variety planted in California, roughly 40 of which are growing in Calistoga. The original cuttings were imported to Calistoga around 1880 from the Savoie region in the French Alps. Our Charbono is an amazing food wine!
Our old-vine, dry-farmed Charbono produces a very dark yet fresh and lively wine with aromas of raspberry and blueberry that explode from the glass, while bright acidity and a gentle mid-palate carry these beautiful fruit flavors through to a crisp, lovely finish.
Charbono is known to age tremendously, so don’t be afraid to lay this beauty down.
